Den nya vindkraften: Mindre, billigare och lättare

Sustaintech Hagnesia utvecklar en generator som är upp till tio gånger mer resurseffektiv än traditionella alternativ. För tunga industrifordon innebär det längre räckvidd med samma batteri, medan det för energiproduktion betyder mindre, billigare och lättare vindkraft.

Dagens elektriska maskiner står inför en utmaning. Det är enkelt att skapa generatorer med bra prestanda för snabba rörelser, men att omvandla långsamma rörelser till elektricitet är svårt, särskilt om det ska ske effektivt och billigt. För att lösa problemet använder många system en växellåda eller hydraulik som ett mellansteg för att öka hastigheten åt elmotorn eller generatorn.

Men en dag, när KTH-forskaren Anders Hagnestål var föräldraledig med sin andra dotter, fanns den bara där. Idén om en helt ny typ av generator som kunde lösa ”låghastighetsproblemet”. Detta ledde till ett patent och grundandet av ett spinout-företag. Året därpå anslöt sig KTH-ingenjören Mårten Keijser som medgrundare.
