Rapport: Så bidrar svenska stadsträd med ekosystemtjänster

Forskning I ett treårigt projekt har trädens ekosystemtjänster i svenska städer kartlagts, och de bidrar rejält. Till exempel lagrar björkarna i Luleås stadskärna kol motsvarande ett årligt koldioxidutsläpp från ungefär 1 600 personbilar.

Projektet i-Tree Sverige har under tre år gjort beräkningar på ekosystemtjänster från stadsträd i nio svenska städer. Även större bostadsbolag i Göteborg och i Stockholm har ingått i projektet.

Ekosystemtjänster som imponerar

Arbetet som redovisas i en rapport visar att svenska städer sitter på ett stort ekosystemkapital. Till exempel lagrar björkarna i Luleås stadskärna kol motsvarande ett årligt koldioxidutsläpp från ungefär 1 600 personbilar. Och granarna i Umeå och skogsekarna i Hässleholm hanterar varje år runt 97 000–100 000 kubikmeter regnvatten i trädkronorna. Det motsvarar det vatten som ryms i cirka 33 000 brandbilar enligt SLU.
