Tillsammans med riskkapitalbolaget Verdane Capital och det statliga norska energibolaget Equinor inleder Södra Skogsägarna nu en satsning för att utforska möjligheterna med koldioxidinfångning, även kallat ”bioenergy carbon capture and storage”, BECCS eller bio-CCS.

Målet med satsningen är att kunna fånga in koldioxid redan vid utsläppet från industrins skorstenar. Detta genom att särskilja koldioxiden från rökgaserna och komprimera till flytande form. Koldioxidvätskan kan sedan permanent förvaras på en säker plats, men möjligheter kan också finnas framåt för att användas cirkulärt till nya produkter.
