Poppelklonen har utvecklats som en del av studien och tagis fram av forskare vid Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet, SLU. Den nya modellen växer bäst på nordliga breddgrader och når full tillväxt inom 20 år, jämfört med 50 – 100 år för de träd som nu används inom skogsbruket.
